KYM is an unassuming restaurant that has a celebrity chef owner without the Feeney attitude. I went with Mrs. C and they had a ‘plumbing emergency’ so they couldn’t serve us. The owner apologized profusely, gave us beef patties, and took our phone number so she could invite us back when they were ready for us to visit again.
We got a call the next day inviting us back. I took some friends and had a real feast. We had jerk chicken and pork, curried goat, and for one of our party, a vegetarian platter. All were excellent, and they were accompanied by rice with red beans, and the house pasta salad. I’ve had lots of Caribbean food, but this was the best ever. We were also treated to complimentary BBQ chicken with a special sauce and some cheesecake because we were disappointed the day before. They were also awesome. This restaurant stocks authentic Jamaican beverages like Ting and ginger beer, which were a great accompaniment to the meal.
The restaurant has pics of the various celebrities that have dined there, including Snoop Dogg and others. If it’s good enough for the inventor of the “schizz-o-lator” it’s good enough for this diner. The service was great, and Xavier our server was fantastic. Chef Lisa told us that all the dishes were made with love and soul, and you could sure taste it.
